Stop, Drop, Self Care - By Christine C. (The Fit Wanderer)

Have you ever stopped to think when was the last time you took sometime to treat yourself? (It has probably been a long time) 

We live in a fast paced society in which it is sometimes difficult to break out of our daily routine. It may be due to the fear that if we do break out of our routine, we will not get everything done and in turn it will lead to failure. But what happens most of the time is that through all the constant running, we do not always give a 100% to everything we do. And eventually we burn out and become fatigued. 

This is why self care is so important, it about creating a balance in our lives. Work and our responsibilities are important but so are YOU! Without you all those things don't get done, therefore it's important to take sometime take care of yourself. You might think this sounds selfish, and in a way it is, but we should all be a little selfish in order to be selfless. 

Now self care doesn't have to be some complicated thing that stresses you out just trying to figure out what to do. It can be very simple, here are some ways that you can practice Self Care:

1. Read a book

Reading a good book allows you to escape even if it's only for a couple of minutes and encourages a sense of peace. 

2. Go for a walk

Walking, especially in a scenic area, is good for you. It allows you to feel more relaxed and balanced and helps reduce stress. 

3. Disconnect

Our phones are basically glued to our bodies at this point and we are constantly checking social media, text messages, and emails. Put the phone aside and enjoy the beauty of the moment. 

4. Treat yourself to a massage

Or even a cryotherapy session, both will allow you to feel more relaxed and even energized.

5. Create something

Whether it be baking brownies or creating a painting, you'll definitely feel relaxed while still being productive. 

6. Get together with friends

Sometimes in all the hustle and bustle of everyday life we don't make time to see our friends. Make sometime to grab dinner or drinks with a friend, guarantee you'll have a good time with lots of laughs and creating memories. 

7. Go on a trip

Planning a trip may seem stressful, however it doesn't have to be and it doesn't have to be far. Go somewhere, even if it's an hour away and explore the area. 

Be a little selfish and take care of yourself. By doing so you'll be the be happier and positive and it will in turn impact your work and those around you.
